For most, trust is something that is earned, and not easily given. This is especially the case with the inner city families that have had their trust broken over and over again. Trust, by definition, is: “firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something.” This trust forces a person to rely on somebody or something other than themselves, and this can often be much harder than anticipated!
At Hope for Kids, one of my main priorities is to earn the trust of both the kids AND parents in the families that we minister to. This isn’t something that can be done over night, but rather through consistent visits, praying for them, inquiring about and meeting physical needs, and proving yourself over and over again that you truly care for them and look out for the kids.
